New Link Blog Functionality
Iāve added a new feature to the site to more easily post links. Well, itās not really a new feature, Iāve had similar functionality with earlier versions of this site, but with my newfound ability to fully customise my blog software, I was able to streamline both the backend Markdown content as well as the frontend look and feel a lot more than with previous versions of my website. This will hopefully make it easier for me to post quick links like this one in the future.
Iāve incremented the version number of the software that compiles this site ā which I am calling āF/Xā ā to version 4.1 to reflect this change.

Replacing AI Images
As Iāve mentioned when I went live with the new version of this site in June, I am in the process of adding older content back to the site. This is a continual process and you should see more and more older stuff popping up every once in a while.
As part of this, I am also replacing AI-generated images on the site. Either by substituting them for photos that show similar scenes or, if I like them a lot, by redrawing the artwork manually by hand, as Iāve done with this piece that was originally generated by Midjourney:

Missing Post
So, yesterday, I launched the new version of this site. Well, thereās nothing like taking some content offline to make you feel appreciated all of a sudden. Because, last night, I got an email from Adam, who noticed that the post on Nectaris that I wrote last year was now missing. He later found it on archive.org, but I took his email as a clue to re-import that post immediately anyway. Well, if youāre also missing some content, shoot me an email. š

Whatās Been Going On?

Youāve probably noticed that I havenāt been posting much on the blog recently. In fact, I think Iāve been relatively quiet all over the web. Why is that? Thereās nothing mysterious going on, really. Iāve just been very busy over the last few months, with some old and some new projects and also trying to break into some hitherto uncharted employment opportunities as a freelancer. What time Iāve had aside from that was mostly focused on my podcast The Private Citizen and keeping that showās schedule of one release a week, which Iāve managed to do with almost no delays.
Aside from that, personal life has kept me pretty busy. My T4 is rusting away under my ass and Iāve been trying to stem the tide of corruption. Iām regularly running and keeping busy with kickboxing exercises to keep the shape Iāve managed to get myself into over the past year and to gain some muscle mass as well. And Iām visiting grandma every week to keep the severe psychological impact of the lockdown situation at bay. Since my wifeās also incredibly busy with her career and I, unlike her, have the luxury of working from home, Iāve also given my best to lighten the load and get as much housework done on the side as possible.
As you can tell, thereās a lot going on. And one of the downsides of being your own boss is that you have to organise everything in your life for yourself; nobody organises anything for you. If youāve only ever been employed, this is a strain on personal resources that you probably will not understand until youāre in the same situation yourself. Not that I want to complain, really. Iām just trying to explain why some projects get left by the wayside or put on hold for a while.
Anyway, I am hopeful that from next week onwards, things will be a bit more easily plannable for me. And I will try to give blog updates on what Iām up to at more regular intervals again. Over the next few days, Iām planning to start with a series of posts about some of the things Iāve gotten done over the last few months that I havenāt gotten around to writing about.
